Batteries
A car that won’t start is one of the most common reasons drivers contact a garage, and in a large number of cases, the battery is the cause.
Batteries naturally degrade over time, but this can be accelerated by short journeys that don’t allow a full charge, cold weather, or accessories left running when the engine’s off. Modern cars also place higher demands on batteries due to the number of electrical systems they support.
Not every starting issue means a new battery is needed. We test battery condition and charging system performance before recommending replacement, since sometimes the issue lies with the alternator rather than the battery itself.
It’s worth noting that a 12V battery, which starts the car’s electrical systems, is separate from the high-voltage battery that powers an EV or hybrid’s drive system. A 12V battery can still fail on an electric or hybrid vehicle in the same way it can on a petrol or diesel car.
What we offer:
If your car’s struggling to start, bring it to FitnFix Auto, and we’ll test properly before recommending a replacement, rather than assuming that’s automatically the fix.
FitnFix Auto is proud to be accredited by the IGA and Trust My Garage, and recognised by HEVRA, SERMI, and Trading Standards, giving you independent assurance that we work to genuine industry standards.
